Not Washed or Cooked, # 306

From Chris Gibbons comes this unfortunate slip in an illustration in a list of facts about the London Underground. (The complete infographic [sic] puzzled Chris further in stating that ‘Alcohol was banned on the Tube — and all London Transport — from June 2008’, which rather implies that users of public transport must buy from outlets close to home or not at all.)

Not Washed or Cooked, # 291

Today’s mangling of ‘appropriate’ (juxtaposed with a scarcity of hyphens) is taken from a blog run by the National Fire Protection Association, which is based in the USA, but describes itself as ‘a global, nonprofit organization’, thus neatly contradicting its name:

You Cannot Be Serious, # 53

Pairing nicely with yesterday’s bit of grammatical hideousness is this mangled on-set television guide entry contributed by John Holloway:

I’m not sure where the various schedulers obtain the programme information, but presumably the synopsis is supplied by the programme-makers. Coast is a collaboration between the Open University and BBC Productions, Birmingham.

Not Washed or Cooked, # 241

Most well-known place names can be found in the spelling dictionaries of standard word processors when set to the appropriate location, and spell-checkers are also available for databases, so there is no excuse for this mangle which turned up in a set of directions on the AA’s online route-finder. It was spelt correctly (‘Nuneaton’ if you’re unfamiliar with the name) in the rest of the directions:
